FIVE days to Christmas! For those of you who (like us) are still getting your holiday decor up, here’s our best tips for creating a design that is festive, timeless and will last into January. Think minimal, which keeps the festive feeling without creating a sense of total craziness!! Go for a wintry look (not Christmasy) and most of all, have fun! It’s not about perfection but crafting a look that you love and one your family can gather around.
1. Go Green
Start with a green, neutral base! This means stopping by a tree stand and asking for their (free) clippings — or colleting natural greenery from your own yard. Big plus here: your home will smell delicious and festive before you’ve barely started!
2. Go Monochromatic
This year, we’ve been drawn over and over to white — and monochromatic color palettes. It’s clean and fresh and gives you the perfect base to add in your own personality.
3. Pick a Focal Point
When in doubt, always pick a focal point — and don't over think it. KEEP IT SIMPLE! This could be a set of candlesticks, lanterns on the mantle or a lit wreath on the door.
4. Add in pops of color
We are all about the fun in design, but pick your color carefully. If you’re going to have a green and white base, pick one color to pull in. It could be gold or silver for a classy, timeless look — or a bright pink for a more playful take on Christmas. Whatever your preference, try to stick to a color (or two max) for a clean look.
5. Keep Your Lights White
We are all about the lights. Lights instantly add festivity to any space and bring warmth, whether it’s a tree, front porch, tablescape or even bathroom. But please, white lights only.
